THE PROCESS

What exactly is the process?  There are two main parts to it: (1) gathering all the results, and (2) compiling them into rankings.  The second job is the main one, and is, of course, ours.  However, there's no denying that there is a fair amount of labor involved on your side of things (assuming you're using the "self-service" method; see the pricing page for more on this), as the collecting and reporting of the scores falls into the hands of the section/state.  The labor can be broken up however you choose, but perhaps the way that makes the most sense is to have the league offices be responsible for reporting all wins by teams in their league.  We recommend that coaches call their league office to report any wins against teams in their section/state, but if local sports coverage is good enough in your area, it may be possible for the leagues to find all the results they need in the newspaper.  The league offices are then responsible for a couple minutes of input each week on our site.  After logging in on the site's home page and selecting a sport, a league rep would see a screen such as this:

Marin County Girls Volleyball    To record a new result, change one of the blank pull-down menus to show the NCS opponent, enter the number of wins against that opponent, then click on 'submit results'

You can erase a team that shouldn't be listed by choosing the blank at the top of the pull-down menu.

It's as simple as typing in a "1" (if you're not using margins, or the actual margin of victory if you are) in the box next to the team that was beaten under the winning team's column.  Just type in the results for each team that has won since the last time you reported scores, and you're done!  (You can view one team or one whole league at a time...whichever you prefer.)
