We think he may have included all returning team members, not just starters. Nevertheless, the San Mateo Bearcats expect to be competitive in the new Peninsula-Ocean B league. The bearcats return leading rusher David Rango RB/DB and other key starters Patrick Latu RB/LB, Tu'u Liu TE/LB, Taukei Taimani RB/LB, Jordan Guinn OL/DL, Alex Bowman OL/DL and Simon Kang WR/DB. They also add a 7-3 junior varsity squad to the already in depth team. The Bearcat strength will be their defense this season. Coach Scheller wrote, "San Mateo High School is ready to win the division and make the playoffs. There is a lot of young talent returning, along with some talent from a successful frosh/soph team."
