Although 11 returning starters is a relatively healthy number, what could be pivotal for the Eagle offense is the fact that with 3 coaching changes over the last year, 3 new offenses have been implemented. A new QB is going to be in place, Cash Oliver, and while the top rusher has graduated, an RB with a fair amount of experience should take over, Darren Beckett (about 700 yards last year). Other key returners include OL/DL Tyler Barker, TE/LB Jon Diaz, and RB/DB Akeem Nicholas. Coach Chad Shrout acknowledges that this team will be young, but thinks it is promising. "Losing 24 seniors last season really hurts, however, we do have young players that have been in the program and they are making vast improvements. Changing the offense should give us new dimensions and hopefully keep us as strong as last season's team." There may not be a huge drop off from last season, but this year's success will likely depend on the learning curve of the new offense and the performance of the new QB.
