Since 2001, however, the Tigers have only escaped the 1st round of the playoffs once (making it to the title game in '06). This year could be more like 2006, as they return 13 starters. A pair of Shatzers (Steven and Nathan) will be competing for the QB job, while the running game will be taken over by backs Jonathan Maricic (nearly 500 yards last year) and Nico Paculba. Defensively, the Tigers should almost certainly improve on the 23.2 points per game they yielded last year. Pretty much everyone in the secondary and linebacking corp returns. Coach Tony Peralta will be relying on an undefeated JV team to fill the gaps along the lines, a factor that could decide whether or not they are to make a run at another league and possible Southern Section Central Division title.
