It looks like it will be difficult to contend again this year as they only return 5 starters. QB Jeff Mathews will take over an offense that loses virtually all skill position players from a year ago. Although only two starters return on the offense, both of them are on the line (Richie Williams and Trevor Ludington), which won the Ventura County "Hogs" competition in July. On defense, LB Noah Lyche, DE Weston Yahn, and DB Alex Clark will try to help lead the Scorpions back to the post-season. With Oxnard looking really tough this year as defending league champs, Camarillo still should qualify for the Southern Section Northern Division playoffs. While a small slip may occur in this program in 2008, a nice jump could take place in 2009 as a 9-1 JV team is set to join the varsity this fall.
