Outlook: The defending Desert Valley League champions have got to be feeling pretty good about themselves for 2008. Returners include QB Andrew Jones and the entire offensive line, among whom 3 were all-leaguers. It appears that Sam Mailou is the leading candidate to take over the RB duties and although the two leading WRs from last year have graduated, many of the new guys saw action during rotations at the position last season. Defensively, the Blackhawks were extremely impressive, allowing a meager 16.3 points per game. Junior LB Ramon Talavera, CB Gabriel Morales, and LB Nick Metchikoff will do their best to keep the defense at the same high level. If Coach Dan Armstrong has any concerns, it's that the secondary might be a little young, but he feels that's reasonably balanced by the sheer talent his young players have. Last year, La Quinta was eliminated from the Southern Section Eastern Division playoffs in the first round. It appears that they definitely are a threat to improve on that in 2008.
