They return 15 starters and have back-to-back undefeated seasons as junior varsity players. Quarterback Ken Johnston, who completed 60% of his passes for 2,733 yards, 30 touchdowns and rushed for an additional 262 yards in 2007, leads the Padres. A complimentary ground attack gained over 1,600 yards rushing in 2007, lead by Andrew Keyser, the first sophomore in the Monterey Bay Area to gain over 1,000 yards. Coach Craig Johnston believes the total team athleticism and experience level, including nine starters on offense and six starters on defense, having all linebackers and four offensive linemen returning could provide the Padres one of the best in Carmel's history.
