To gain that 2006 bid, the Palo Alto Vikings won the powerful 2006 Open Division championship, only to come head on with the daunting Orange Lutheran Lancers. This year, the Vikings will defend their back-to-back section championships on a new turf field. Key leaders of the 2008 team include Will Brandin QB, Will Holder SS/WR, Troy Boyland T, Steven Garguilo TE/DE and Paul Brown DB. Brandin passed for more than 1500 yards last year. Coach Earl Hansen told us the team weaknesses were inexperience and lack of depth at the skill positions. The defense, however, is solid. The offensive linemen are big and strong. The Vikings have a new defensive coordinator since the previous DC moved to the college ranks. Hansen hopes to get the team back to the same level as last year.
