Outlook: The Tehachapi Warriors are the defending Central Section, Division III champion. The Central Section realignment brings two interesting changes that affect the Warriors. First, the league's realign so that the Sequoia leagues, Tehachapi being in the South Sequoia, have mostly division IV and division V teams. Tehachapi is one of only three division III teams in the new Sequoias. The second change has larger schools moving into division III and smaller schools moving down a division. The result is that the Warriors have smaller schools to compete with within their league but larger schools during division III playoffs. Coach Steve Denman commented, "Mountain Football will have a great test ahead of them, but the team is excited at the opportunity to defend their CIF championship." The Warriors lose some great athletes to graduation, but they retain strong leadership and fourteen starters from a championship team. Garrett Coontz LB and Lance Lange LB were 2007 defensive captains. On offense, Josh Strauss rushed for 989 yards, and Adam Mullen recorded 971 rushing yards. Offensive linemen Dominic Chavarria, Kevin Ruiz, Vince Ortiz and Drew Howell bring back a depth of experience for the Warriors. Franky Rodriguez was the team's leading receiver in 2007 yardage. New starting quarterback Kurtis Knundson was able to gain some game experience last year.
