Outlook: Bishop's High School had an outstanding 2007 football season (winning the San Diego Section D-V title) and there doesn't appear to be a huge drop off for 2008. Returning RB Jacob Kelly will be relied upon to take pressure off of new likely QB Joey Moreno. While Coach Mike David acknowledges inexperience at both the QB and WR positions, he feels it may not turn out to be much of a hindrance. "Passing game has been very good so far this summer. Players have improved drastically at this position [WR]." If the Knights can achieve anywhere near the 44 points per game they had last year, they should remain very formidable. Despite the optimism on offense, Coach David feels that the defense will actually be the biggest strength of the team. A large number of players who saw a lot of action last year return on a defense that only allowed an average of 9.2 ppg. Mike Jensen and some guy named Seau (this one's first name is Micah) will lead the linebackers, while Alex Carrillo and Rey Felix will anchor the DL. Bishop's is looking like they are poised to challenge for another set of league and sectional titles, but they will also be facing improved competition from their Coastal League rivals.
