Outlook: Crespi High School was apparently instrumental in determining two CIF State bowl participants in 2007. Having defeated Birmingham of Lake Balboa and lost to Centennial of Corona, Crespi was used as the measuring stick between the D-I top two contenders by the selection committee. Having lost to Poly of Long Beach in the Southern Section Pac-5 finals also helped secure Oceanside's D-II bid (the Celts would have more than likely earned that bid with a victory). It is pretty easy to assume that the program on the Encino campus feels like they have some unfinished business with which to deal. They'll have plenty of weapons available at their disposal, as well. Junior QB Bryan Bennett was forced into duty at the beginning of the 2007 campaign when the senior starter Kevin Prince was injured in the first game and had a fairly nice season. It appears that Jeremiah McKibbins is poised to take over the RB spot and junior WR Blake Stanton could once again be a favorite target for Bennett. On defense, Crespi should once again be extremely tough (they allowed only 12.2 points per game last year, only *5* during Serra League play!). DBs Chris Carter, Lucky Radley, and McKibbins will be joined by DL Hroniss Grasu to lead the formidable unit. Although the Celts will again be expected to play a major role in the determination of another bowl berth, they are hoping that this time it is in securing their own.
