With 15 regular starters returning, the Aztecs aren't just looking towards the playoffs for 2008, they feel they have a shot at the league title. We can't disagree. QB Marvin Bobadilla will be looking for WR Chris Mathis as a main target, while having an experienced line protecting him, led by Dimitris Vlahakis. The defense was a strength on the team last year and with the likes of LBs Luis Necoechea and DeVon Jackson and DBs Tasi Carbullido and Anthony Gomez, it will likely be again this fall. Coach Julio Alcala did express some concern over the youth of his defensive line, but feels pretty good about his D overall. A section title may still be a little out of reach, but Montgomery should expect to advance past round 1 of the playoffs this time.
