Outlook: The Ripon Christian Knights return 18 starting positions; nine players, from their 2007 season. Outstanding players who will lead the Knights include Josiah Neeley FB/LB, David Vander Schaaf QB and Aaron Van Laar WR/DB. Vander Schaaf and Neeley were among the most productive yard gainers from last year. Van Laar also had his hand in receiving yards. The school has been dealing with declining enrollment and such reduction affects football programs because of the lack depth. Obviously, with lesser depth come concerns for injuries. "Our objective this year is to remain injury-free. We have a very young line, but a very talented backfield," said Coach John Vander Schaaf. There have been some significant changes among the coaching staff. Vander Schaaf will take over as offensive coordinator this year. New coach Don Peglow will head up the defense. Robert Kissee rejoins the Knights coaching staff as the offensive line coach. Strong numbers at the junior varsity level should help Ripon Christian keep their lower level program going this year. "Our goal is to be very competitive in the TVL [Trans Valley League] this year," concluded Vander Schaaf.
