Outlook: Those close to the Kingburg Vikings think this season has lots of potential for success. The Vikings will play in a new 7,000-seat stadium with all-weather turf. "Expectations among the players, coaches, and community is high for this group. We have been very successful on the junior varsity level these last two years, and last year's varsity team went 9 - 2, so the opportunity for us is there." said first year Coach Dave Steele. Steele told us quite a bit about his outstanding players. Chris Musselman is very versatile athlete RB/TE/SS/LB who has good speed and is a very intense player. Tyler Bray started as a sophomore QB last season; he has a good arm, and he reads the field well. Wade Jackson OG/ILB is a third year varsity player and team leader who has a great nose to the ball. Jason Linman TE/DE has good range, and he is a pass rusher who is tough to block at the DE position. The Vikings' offense is very balanced with good athletic ability. They also have good team speed on defense. The team is undersized on offense and on defensive line; they are young in general. "Our league and section will be extremely tough," commented Coach Steele, "so it will take a lot of hard work to succeed. (It's an) exciting time at KHS, with the new coaching changes, uniforms, league addition and stadium."
